Red listed birds seen on Willowbrook farm
We often here song thrushes singing their friendly repetitive evening song, as they sit in the high branches of our trees. Song thrushes are on the RSPB red list as their population is declining, particularly as a result of habitat loss caused by intensive farming. We hope that the thousands of trees that we have planted will help to halt the worrying decline in the populations of this much loved song bird. Lesser spotted woodpeckers appear to be regular visitors to the trees of Willowbrook farm. We hear their distinctive hammering in the high branches, and if we follow the sound we can catch glimpses of them flitting from trunk to trunk, with their distinctive red patch on the head, and black and white body.
